Great western railway wifi
I also get a login screen with South West Trains but then it's hit or miss whether you can actually log in! As a side note the delayed 9. I brought my own though. RailUK Forums. Occasionally goes to the login screen but "fails to connect to database".
Going direct to the login URL won't help as it's a problem with accessing the internet, rather than the router blocking your requests until logging in BTW I am not a techie if it's not obvious!
I have noticed that I seem to have better luck if I open something in a browser first rather than using an app, not sure if that's real though. From my experience it doesn't seem to correlate with how busy the train is though. Still, can't complain as it's free unlike certain TOCs DarloRich Veteran Member. Unless something has changed, they are still in the middle of fitting wifi to the Turbo fleet. I think they are supposed to be done by the end of the year. There were certainly some teething problems with the s and the HSTs when they were first equipped. And even on the routes that do, it can certainly be erratic but so is trying to get a mobile phone signal in much of the Cotswolds. I find the connectivity to be the same on Turbos and HSTs.
Sometimes Turbos haven't been fitted, so no network to connect to, but if you get a WiFi signal it's equally likely to fail to connect on either. It's hard to stomach that it has taken colon to introduce, I agree. Carlisle Established Member. Joined 26 Aug Messages 3, Joined 23 Feb Messages Location Bedfordshire. I thought this was all supposed to be up and running, uninterrupted signal etc. Wi-Fi can be ropey anywhere. The equipment used, whether it supports 5GHz and how access points hand off from one to another all play a part.
Ideally, use your mobile connection if you can first and foremost depending on tariff and if the phone gets a good signal on that train type. Well my Android Lollipop settings for WiFi tonight said due to no Internet it won't connect automatically. I guess at least it didn't connect to it. I had to go I to my settings to find out that reason though.
I then forced it to connect and as a result simply just lost access to the H mobile coverage there being no 4G on O2 at Redhill station tonight, if ever. Joined 20 Aug Messages But I've switched to 3G to send this data-heavy tweet.
FGW guys have to say the wifi onboard the paddington out of Newport is pretty poor frustrating. FGW probably the slowest wifi ever on the The fgw wifi is so slow and many sites blocked , it's easier and quicker to tether your iPhone and use 3G!
Make that 3 out of 3… FGW does your wifi ever give decent performance? I had such high hopes…. Seriously unimpressed with ur wifi FGW. Even less impressed with ur broken train. Situation is the same tonight…. FGW what's the point in going 2 the effort of installing WiFi on your trains, when it's so slow it's unusable? FGW it's unusable. I'll stick to 3g. Seems a waste of effort installing it if not going to make bandwidth wide enough. FGW I'm in the 7. Is there an issue with your internet?
It appears that there is a fault with the WiFi on this service. I will get this reported. Apologies Laura.
FGW no point in offering a service if it never works properly. Duffy ClaireLDuffy March 26, Wifi this time? Again, no. Back to tethering the phone. Beginning to wonder why you bothered :.
Wifi on fgw is like a throw back to the days of dial up connections — it's more fun watching paint dry. Substitute "free" with unusable.
Surely providing a service this bad does more harm than good, fgw? Have officially given up on FGW wifi. Two websites managed to load in the last 2 hours. Don't advertise it if it does not work! GSlokey Sorry if it's not been working well for you, did you speak to WiFi support at all? This sign got me excited but it's slower than GPRS and sites time out. Oh well. Nice try FGW. Sorry fgw I had to be honest with the survey pic.
Can't connect at all. Only worked once in my last 6 journeys on fgw. Do any train companies have wifi that actually works? Have been trying to make First Great Western's connect for about half an hour. So much for the wifi first great western… worstgreatwestern pic. FGW why your onboard wifi never works? What's the point of having it if you don't care about its quality? FGW the wifi on the trains is just so slow!! Don't see the point of having wifi if it takes so long to search stuff on google.
Can't get an IP address on droid or apple device. FGW I don't understand why you offer a service, and then when it breaks you don't take responsibility for fixing, push us off to 3rd party. FGW no wifi in coach c again on the 7. Nothing on my FGW your wifi is totally useless!!
I manage to sign in each time I travel why can't it remember me signal fine but just spinning wheels! FGW what is the point in putting wireless internet on trains but making it the same speed as dial up!?? But cannot get any internet? And no working wifi FGW again! FGW don't advertise wifi on your train if you don't have it.
