Air fuel guage installation
Can I tap it under the dash or does it need to be done in the engine compartment? Thanks, it's late, and I can't read anymore! Please help Thanks! Com Supporter! Joined May 24, Well, probably becuase if you're hooking it to the car's stock O2 sensor it's a waste of money.
It's not going to give you any usefull information at all out of a narrow band O2 sensor. Joined May 6, I thought you had to have a wide band sensor to hook it up to But I have been wrong before. Ok, thanks for the replies. I do not know what the difference is between a narrow and wide band O2 sensor. Can somone explain? If there's no point to it, I will get a knock guage or something more useful to put in my dual guage pod. Thanks for the replies guys. SouthernCal GN I come in peace AK AK.
Joined Mar 18, Narrow band stock O2 basically reads lean or rich. Wide band O2, can they be purchased for our cars? Or am I better off getting a different guage? Thanks again If you get a sensor then you have to have the exhaust tapped and a bung welded in.
Turbo T-type Member. Joined Jun 4, Anyway I am looking to start adding some mods to my sled and before I do I would like to install an aem air fuel ratio gauge into my BDX eyepod. Having never done this I was maybe looking for some tips and pictures to help me out So where to start Is there any other pieces I need for the O2 sensor or is it ready to go as it comes I only ask because I noticed that "Koso" gauges have a piece that fits on the end of the O2 sensor, which makes it for a "2-stroke.
Also where do you mount the o2 sensor on the exhaust? And is there any other things that I should be aware of before I dive into this project Any help is greatly greatly appreciated. For mouting of the sensor it is an up in the air open question.
Lots of guys mount them into the fat part of the pipe, but if you have a coated pipe like myself then there is no way you want to put it in there. I run mine in the silencer right before it enters into the muffler part and it seems to work pretty good there. Hope this helps some. UtahEdge Well-known member Premium Member. Autotune was good though for modifying midrange. It knew where to add and take fuel from a few places that I would have never figured out such as right before power valve opening at and rpm.
Bottom line is there should be some good maps coming out since pcv been out a while. I played with base maps from speedwerksstore. These sleds run hot midrange, well mine does with speedwerks, but keep your egts around to It also helps the cat converter store oxygen to convert bad gasses into good ones.
The voltage is very weak and should NOT be placed near ignition coils or cables plug wires. Be careful where you route the wires back to the gauge.
I don't. I know what it does and I know how to read it. The gauge should swing back and forth about 1 second while driving closed loop. At idle it should still swing, however it may fall out of closed loop. Stuck on the rich or lean side is not good. Its normal for the gauge to read full rich when at WOT.
Its very bad to run a car lean at high RPMs. This gauge can help pinpoint system faults. Honestly unless this is used with a "wideband" O2 sensor and gauge its limited, but can still show issues with your system.
My car does not have forced induction, and I use the gauge as a diagnostic tool. I mounted the gauge next to the radio, using 42nd Draft Designs little plastic deal. It's not as easy as it looks to install. You need to hack away at some of the dash behind the heated seat blanks. And as an added bonus, the steering wheel completely obscures the mounting.
